The engine bay
This is the general appearance of the job
finished. The next step will be a custom intake manifold along with a
programmable ECU, and since this will most certainly bring more power, a LSD
equipped gearbox will be most wanted! |
The exhaust manifoldThe custom made exhaust manifold with an unusual configuration due to the lack of space. |
 The turbocharger
A Garret from a Renault 5 GT turbo, but with some modifications to the compressor turbine. |
The 5th injector Placed on the intake pipe, not far from the throttle body, the 5th injector complements the need for extra fuel under boost. This procedure was used because the original ECU programming was kept basically standard, consequence of the investment required for an aftermarket ECU. The fuel dosage is controlled by a small device that monitors the ECU parameters and changes them accordingly. |
Dyno power testsThe sheets show measurements of hp and torque with low compression ratio, before and after the turbocharger was put in place. Noticeably the engine without the turbo still makes 104hp. The engine is now making 210hp with boost set at 0.7bar. |
The brakes The front brakes were upgraded with a set of four piston Hi-Spec Motorsport Calipers. To apply these we had to put in bigger brake discs, which made compulsory the increase in wheel diameter from 14" to 15". The master cylinder was also upgraded and along with all this, the fine tuning of the proportioning valve for the rear brakes, resulting in a more balanced braking. |
The suspensionThe suspension was tuned to the car's potential, but still keeping it to an every-day-use specification. |
